People in Iowa don’t get lost, they just take unplanned detours. With checkerboard road systems it takes a long stretch of unfamiliar territory and countless turns to convince some that they are lost. But once reality hits then steps can be taken to find the way.
Spiritually, many people are pointing their lives in random directions hoping to find the right road. It is for this reason that the Romans Road (plan of salvation) is often started with the stark proclamation that “all have sinned…” Once lost, they can fathom the consequences, “…the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23). After a quick trip through God’s love, “…God demonstrates His love toward us…” (Romans 5:8) it is then on to the sinner’s response, “…if you confess with the mouth…” (Romans 10:9.10).
The reality is that one does not have to travel too far on the road before finding the answer to sin.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,” Romans 3:23,24
All are lost and all that are lost can only find truth through the justifying, redemptive work of Christ’s grace. So if you want to experience this gracious gift? – get lost!
